🧅 Our home-made onion chutney will be the new star in your kitchen and the savior of your next barbecue party. As a topping for grilled meat, salads, etc. you will experience a real taste explosion. 🧅

Boring dips and toppings are a thing of the past

The full load of onions? Exactly! The intense taste of the red and yellow onions is rounded off by the different flavors of our recipe. Aceto balsamico, cane sugar, cinnamon, rosemary and chili flakes are added, among other things.

An interesting mix, do you think? You could say that. But the supposedly opposite tastes become an onion chutney that tastes both spicy and sweet. The perfect combination with cheese, meat dishes, rice or vegetables. And dips or dressings can also be wonderfully rounded off with our organic chutney. Ketchup was yesterday, our organic onion chutney is today.

How our spicy organic onion chutney is made

Our farm kitchen in Poppendorf near Rostock is the magical place where our delicious toppings, spreads and sauces are created. Here we cook everything ourselves with a lot of love and care. This also applies to our onion chutney, which you may soon have in your hands.

We use organic products from regional producers or traders to produce it. These are mainly red and yellow onions, but also chili peppers, bay leaves, rosemary, red wine vinegar and balsamic vinegar.

First we fry the onions until they caramelize and are lightly browned. Then we add the remaining ingredients and spices and let everything simmer for an hour. Important here: Be careful and stir regularly so that the chutney doesn't burn while cooking. When it is finally thick enough, we fill our now finished organic onion chutney by hand.

The popular onion causes quite a stir

“An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” We all know this saying. But should it be called “an onion a day” in the future? Onions have been around for more than 5,000 years and still haven't lost their power. Onions can be a real game changer both in the kitchen and in the area of health.

Onions contain a lot of vitamins and other substances that can lower blood pressure and counteract inflammation. One of these substances is sulfur, which causes the typical tears when cutting, but also promotes our health. The sulfur compounds contained contribute to a healthy cardiovascular system as well as optimal oxygen supply and healthy blood flow.

We could go on like this for a while, because the positive qualities don't stop there. In a nutshell we can say: We should not underestimate the power of onions.
